Under the auspices of the Comitato Claudio Monteverdi 450, gathering several cultural and artistic institutions of the city of Cremona together with Regione Lombardia, and Comune di Cremona.
The Musicology and Cultural Department of Pavia University, the Accademia Virgiliana, and the Conservatory of Music of Mantua are pleased to announce the International Conference The Making of a Genius: Claudio Monteverdi from Cremona to Mantua, celebrating the 450th birth anniversary of the composer. The conference will take place in the cities directly related to Monteverdi: Cremona and Mantua. Each unit is organized by several institutions and has an independent theme and format (keynote lectures, panel discussions, individual-paper sessions, lecture-recitals, concerts):
The program committee (Paola Besutti, Massimiliano Guido, Sandra Martani, Massimo Ossi, Roberto Perata, Daniele Sabaino, Angela Romagnoli) invites proposals on any aspect of Monteverdi's music (both analytical and/or historical) related to the general themes, with the following guidelines:
Proposals should be prepared as follows:
All proposals should be anonymous. Any element that identifies authors should be rigorously excluded. References to the work of researchers submitting proposals should be written in the third person. Personal identification and affiliation should be indicated only in the email body. All proposals should be submitted as PDF attachments, no later than January 30, 2017 by email at claudiomonteverdi450 at gmail.com. The detailed program will be announced no later than February 15, 2017.
The working language of the conference will be English. Papers can be presented in Italian, English, French, and German.
